About the GORUCK Challenge
The GORUCK Challenge is a team event, never a race. Think of it as a slice of Special Operations training where - from start to finish -- a Special Operations Cadre challenges, teaches, and inspires your small team to do more than you ever thought possible. Leadership is taught and teamwork is demanded on missions spanning the best of your city. The hardest part? Signing up.
Registration is individual, completion is collective. We recommend signing up with a friend, but you don’t have to. Either way, you will leave with about 29 friends for life. You will show up to the start point with water, wrapped bricks or a filler bag, and a rucksack full of anything else you need. You will meet your Special Operations Cadre there, and then it begins. You will stay with your team the duration of the Challenge. Your Cadre will be with you the entire time until the 30 individuals have become one team and earned the GORUCK Tough patch.
We are proud to say our pass rate is over 94%. We never tell people what they can’t do. We show them what they can do - together, as a team. Our favorite classes are those with a 100% pass rate.
Team Goal: $10,000
failure to reach the goal of $10,000 will result in a standard patch, as opposed to the pink spearhead
|You have an option for what you use to weigh down your ruck:
Bricks - Four (4) if you are under 150 pounds, six (6) if you're over. Life isn't fair. Each brick should weigh 4-6 pounds. Wrap your bricks in tape to protect your gear. Label your bricks (each package if wrapped separately) with your full name and phone via duct tape and permanent marker. Bricks will be inspected by the Cadre at the start point.
Sandbag Fillers - If you are under 150 pounds, use a 20 pound sandbag and if you are over 150 pounds use a 40 pound sandbag. Fillers are not required but help out local law enforcement and clean up crews. Sand gets heavy when wet, so we recommend placing the filler bag in a contractor bag or something else waterproof. That is, unless you want to engage in even more Good Livin'
Hydration system - mandatory. We strongly recommend a hydration bladder with minimum 3 Liters capacity. We recommend Source's hydration bladder.
Headlamp - mandatory if any part of your event will take place in the dark. We recommend Petzl Tactikka.
Reflective Belt - in light of recent events, some form of reflective material is now mandatory for any and all nighttime events. Please bring either a reflective belt or patch
Gloves to protect your hands. We recommend Mechanix gloves.
A windbreaker is required if temperatures are expected to go below 50 degrees.
Anything else you need to stay warm and dry. We also recommend snacks, chapstick, and, if it's sunny, sunblock. Use your judgment.
One form of identification and $20 for a cab, just in case.
One team weight per class - 25lbs.
One American flag per class - we like Annin Flags
Friends - it's probably less scary that way.
Pink - unique to this challenge, each team member must wear at least one article of clothing that is pink
